Everything you see in Sydney is very feminine, very curvilinear. So beautiful. We should be connecting to that. It became a conscious decision to crown the building with an architectural feature that relates to how people perceive Sydney. We have taken a risk, and hope others will read this as a message to take one too.

KoichiTakada,Architect

This is a unique and beautifully designed structure that features distinctly in Sydney’s skyline. The two, 29-storey, luxurious high-rise residential and hotel towers stand at 88m tall and are clad in soaring curtain walls of glass. World renowned architect Koichi Takada drew his inspiration for the elegant brickwork and steel arched hoops from the curving forms of the iconic Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

Working with the Arc by Crown Group, Hutchies brought to life the vision of the structure, and restored and preserved the historic Skittle Lane linking King Street with Kent Street and Clarence Street. This linkage was an important part of the project, as it provides an alternative pedestrian laneway and boutique entry, giving shared access to the building.

Hutchinson Builders was awarded the contract to build the iconic structure based on our detailed and efficient program, and the strong multi-residential capability of our team who previously delivered The Residence – a high quality redevelopment of the former police headquarters in Sydney’s Hyde Park. Our ability to provide certainty around complex site logistics — due to the Sydney light rail works in adjacent George Street — was also a key factor in our appointment.

As part of the value management process, Hutchies proposed a superior solution for the façade, utilising a full curtain wall in lieu of the documented window wall and full face brickwork on the base to upgrade the proposed precast hybrid solution. While these improvements did not deliver significant cost savings, the quality of the alternatives will deliver significant design and function benefits.

The indulgent apartments feature amenities such a spa, gym, and reflection pool and rooftop courtyard on the penthouse level. Skye Suites Sydney occupies 73 suites and offers larger than typical hotel rooms with 5 star amenities.

A feature of the Arc by Crown Group’s twin 25-storey tower development is a pair of arched metal fins that cantilever and curve over rooftop, shaping the skyline with a gentle and organic form.

TheDailyTelegraph

Hand-built brickwork and masonry arches, using more than 300,000 bricks create the intricate detailing. Arc is understated and stylish.

The centrepiece of the development is the hotel, which has elegant, oversized luxury rooms with balconies, and one of the city’s best-looking pools. It’s in a moodily lit room with a sensually curved ceiling is there a better place in Sydney to to do laps? with a gym off to the side.
